Advance Indiana Cruise In - 07/09
On July 9 the town of Advance held a Cruise In along with a festival to raise money to equip the local police department with defibrillators in each of their cars. Member Ray Heiston had brought the day's events to the club's attention and received club support with a donation and a group that headed to Advance to enjoy the day. With Ray & Nikki Heiston hosting the Advance arrival end of the day, Sharon & William Arnold set up the drive there with the following members going along; Jim & Bonnie Shaver, Ross Gullet, Frank & Cathy Coolidge, Bill & Cheryl Reynolds, Phil & Anita Vickery, Tom & Wife (Phil and Anita's friends), Chuck Daily, Jerry & Elaine Croy, Keith Riley, Al & Terri Forey, and John Meggison who drove in from Huntington. Jim's report follows along with pictures from him, Ross, & Jerry who also took a video when the group stopped in the park. Click here for the video.
Nine Corvettes plus Bill R.'s metal car met at Penske for the drive to Advance. After a quick stop at Macgregor Park in Cicero, we headed for the Countryside Antique Mall in Thorntown for some shopping. Some of us only browsed but several purchases were made. John met us there in his C7 and we were off to Advance. We stopped a couple of miles from town and Ray came out to give use a police escort into town. Our cars, with a couple of pickups, filled a parking lot. Lunch (pulled pork and beans) was delicious. A band provided entertainment as we ate. After lunch there was more antique browsing. As a thank you gift for coming, Ray gave each of us a small tray of ribs and brisket. Delicious!!!
