2014 Fisher Freedom Parade
On the last Sunday before the 4th of July, June 29, the traditional Fisher Freedom Parade took place. As with the past few years we also had the traditional rain that had the Corvette Indy members putting their tops up and down, plus several rounds of wiping their Corvettes off. Those members able to be in this year's parade were Greg & Donna B, Jim & Shelley N, Bill & Erika L, Chris W, Rich & Suzanne B, Bonnie S, Wylie & Rita E, Bob H, Alan C, Greg T, Rich & Machelle P, Jeff & Amy Robbins, Terry A & Grandson, Paul H & Grandsons, Susie H & Terry, Joe & Kris M and guest Charlie S. The first round of rain came at our meeting place in front of Target, once dried off we headed to our staging point, unfortunately Greg was directed about 100 feet to far had 4 Corvettes parked and was then asked to take a lap around the circle so we could be positioned correctly. We complied, got all backed in to position just in time for another rain shower. Again the towels came out and all was made dry after the brief bit of moisture. Fortunately for this year's viewing crowd the rain was early enough and held off during the parade time. Because of the better weather the streets were fully lined with many families, all waving and cheering the parade as it went by. With 17 Corvettes towards the parade's end, we got lots of requests to 'rev it up', which several of the members obliged the crowd and did. The parade itself was just over 2.4 miles and took right at an hour for a 2.7 mph cruise. A few members had higher than normal engine temperatures due to the warm and very humid day, but no real problems. After the parade was over over half of the group headed to Arnies on 96th street for the air conditioning and to have dinner and talk about the day's fun. Once there, Jim S joined us too. Everyone had a great day and were very glad to make so many children and adults happy.
We also discussed getting ready for the Carmel 4h of July parade only 5 days away.
