Bridgewater Parade & DnD 07/01
Corvette Indy is becoming the go to club to participate in parades as Wylie was contacted about having the club participate in the first Bridgewater Country Club Communities Parade over the 4th of July Weekend. With the call out to members the event was soon filled with Corvettes for the parade and dinner afterwards at the Italian House in Westfield. As with any parade there was the initial meeting spot with it being Guerin Catholic HS on Gray Rd at 4:00, with members arriving to do shines and dress up for the parade prior to that. Once the group had assembled and signed the waiver at 4:15 leader Wylie led them over to the Bridgewater entrance where the organizers had spots for everyone to stage. Again, once lined up, the members got out of their Corvettes to find some shade and use the very convenient rest rooms of the nearby golf course. After about an hour wait everyone mounted up and followed a procession of decorated golf carts and walkers for what will be now know as the slowest and parade the club does. The parade lasted 17 minutes or so, therefore a timing of the Butler Parade will need to be done to see if it retains it's notoriety of being the clubs shortest parade that we do. Once the parade was over the group swung by Wylie's house to drop off grandchildren that had rides in their two Corvettes. From there it was just a few minutes over to the restaurant and the awaiting 36 reservations inside their party room. With the large group and being at the peak dinner hour it took a bit to get orders in and served out. For that matter Charlie & Eileen had their grandchildren with them and sat just outside of the party hut. Because of that they got their orders in and were soon served and on their way while the rest of the members looked on and wished them goodbye. It was a great day for a parade with perfect summer weather and a great place to eat and socialize into the evening. Next parade coming up will be the always well attended Carmel 4th of July parade with new roundabouts to navigate on Tuesday July 4th!
