Gold Autocross
This year Bloomington Gold revived the Gold Autocross and Corvette Indy was instrumental in making it happen. The NCCC had been asked to handle the operation of the racing event and in turn the Indiana Region was tapped to get it done. We became a major part of the region's effort when we supplied our trailer, timing equipment and a number of members to man the three days of racing and day of setup. There was also workers from 6 other region clubs, Circle City, Hoosier, Fort Wayne, Elkhart Vette Set, Indianapolis Corvette and Michiana Corvette Clubs. The events were sponsored by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (a club member too) and Ridetech -Air ride Technologies, who brought cars and professional drivers to do exhibitions and give rides to anyone who wanted to have them. Setup was on Wednesday with the course laid out and timing checked and ready to go. Unfortunately Thursday began with rain and due to it the racing did not get started until nearly one. Once going the Ridetech cars were quickly drying the track out completely along with a few drivers that got their runs in their own Corvettes. On Friday the morning started well but soon the weather deteriorated again and racing was washed out, although there was a competitor that did his runs in the rain as he was headed back to Illinois that evening. Saturday became the day for a lot of runs and ride along. The best time of the weekend was a high 18 second run, with a number in the 19's and low 20's. A short course but still fun for everyone that gave it a try.
