Claddagh's Dine without a Drive
On Monday Feb. 11, a non meeting week, the Retirees and Hookey Player group got together for an extended lunch without the usual drive as the streets were still white with salt from the weekend. The afternoon's baker's dozen group consisted of Greg & Donna B, Jim & Shelley N, Bill & Erika L, Andy & Sarah L, Dick & Bonnie P, Bob H, Bob Y, and Jim S. Everyone made good use of Claddagh's two meals for one deal, with Jim getting a dinner for Bonnie as he was the last to arrive. But Jim was made very happy as Greg delivered his Mid America ordered leather Corvette jacket, which he promptly modeled for the group. Just as the group was being seated they noticed a Red C6 parking, but none of us knew the couple in it. President Greg promptly obtained one of the club's business cards and then introduced himself to the unsuspecting couple, with their promise that they would check us out. Too bad it wasn't a day where the group had a drive first so that we would have had a representative number of Corvettes in the lot.
The day's conversations ran the usual varied topics, this time from Greg and Donna's search for new windows to the usual car talk. There was also a lot of airplane stories between our two former airline pilots, Bob H & Jim N, with Bob Y adding to the conversation from his personal flying experiences. Greg made a comment about Donna "being off of her rocker" (because her daughter had taken possession of the rocker that she had been rocked in while a baby). We also talked about getting heavy objects into a basement, which led to a discussion of jukeboxes and their delivery. In an automotive vein Jim said that his Wurlitzer jukebox had a Mercedes Benz wiper motor in it, at which point Bob wondered if it went rrr - rrr playing records like a DJ would.
Note to all, go to Jim & Shelley's party on Saturday 2/16 to see their Wurlitzer and hear the story of how it was delivered. As the afternoon headed to evening, the group broke up and headed for home, all looking forward to the coming days where there would be a Drive as part of the day's outing.
