25th Annual Main Event Autocross

During the June 6 - 8 weekend Corvette Indy held their 25th Annual Main Event Autocross. This years event was held at Lincoln College of Technology, the same location that we held last year's very successful autocross drivers training school. Some changes were made this year as we used the whole parking lot with the new timing trailer stationed at the south end and the concessions and pits located at the north end near their building. Lincoln Tech could not have been more accommodating including having a few cars that were still parked on the lot towed to another lot. Roger and the rest of the staff and students also were more than helpful with the preparations and actually a few helped work corners during the events. As in past years Pam was there with her cooking equipment creating wonderful lunches for all of the drivers and workers that wanted to eat there. We also had several raffles for many prizes donated by area merchants including our sponsor Penske Chevrolet. Friday evening for setup and Saturday were both perfect days while Sunday morning was wet due to overnight rain. The rain stayed away and Bob Y with his gas powered leaf blower covered the whole driving area drying it out before the 10AM start. This years car count was down a bit due to competing events west of Chicago, but everyone that raced had a great time on the larger course. With Lincoln College truly wanting us there, we will certainly return for the foreseeable future.
