Ft Wayne & Corvette Club Autocross 8/25-8/26
Marian Cole sent in the following report from a very wet Saturday: Corvette Indy's Mark Hilligoss, David and Kimberly Pritchett, Tammy DeWitt, Gary and Marian Cole as workers, along with drivers, Butch DeWitt and Frank and Cathy Coolidge had to wait through a lightening storm delay this morning at the NCCC sanctioned autocross at Grissom Air Base auxiliary tarmac where Ft. Wayne Corvette Club and Corvette Club of Indiana held their annual event. Racing got underway shortly after noon when the dangers of the lightening had passed. The day's races continued through rain until 2:30 when the rain abated and the winds helped to dry the track. Racing for the day ended at 5 PM and those racers and some of the workers adjourned to the Grissom Air Museum to partake of a complimentary cookout. And then it all starts again tomorrow at 10:00 for racing.
On Sunday the above group all dried out returned along with John Vess and Bill Lapham, also dried out from Saturday's Artomobilia, to enjoy what was a beautiful and very warm day. With a few timing issues and a number more entrants for the dry day running started at 10 AM was over by around 4 PM. After the day's events Butch, Tammy, Mark, John, & Bill headed to the Grissom Museum for the annual summer Governor's meeting.
