Fish @ Bookers 08/07
With the promise of having All You Can Eat Fish at Bookers in Kirklin on Friday August 7 Bill & Erika along with Wylie & Rita led a bit later in the afternoon drive to the restaurant. Normally the restaurant doesn't start the Friday only fish special until 4, but with the hungry group of Corvette Indy members coming in they started the deal at 3. The group consisted of hosts Bill & Erika, along with John & Marg H, Tom & Nancy P, and Greg H met at their house before heading over to host Wylie & Rita's. Once there they met up with Linda W, John & Judy G, Jack H, Mike L and his son-in-law Johnnie F, with everyone checking out the back porch and a few looking at Wylie's latest 'bling' project on the C7. As it neared 2 everyone got ready to leave, then just as they were about to head back out Greg & Donna B rolled in for a total of 10 Corvettes and 17 members and guests heading off to the Northwest. The day was as perfect as it could be for convertible tops to be down, T-Tops off on the C3's, and C5 - C7 Coupe tops tucked away. As the group headed out it was book ended by the two 40th anniversary painted Corvettes, with a rainbow of color in the middle. The drive took them up to 236th street, then across to Sheraton and up twisty IN 38 to Kirklin. The drive up was sedately led by Wylie, without losing anyone on the trip although a couple of stop lights may have been 'pink' for the last Corvette through. We were able to park in front of the restaurant giving the main street a bit of needed color. After being seated a comment was made by a newer member that we drove more 'enthusiastically' than the T-Bird club they had formerly belonged to. That is not a surprise as Corvettes tend to handle much better than T-Birds. The group had their usual discussions while being waited on, then getting their meals they dug in. The dinners were great with most everyone getting the fish special and enjoying the refills of the fish. After dinner was done the group broke up with a number heading directly home and a small group driving to Stuckey's Farm market for some needed items including apple cider and tomatoes. Another fun Friday in the summer getting everyone ready for the Saturday events that were planned for the weekend.
