Autocross at Grissom August 16  & 17

The August weekend events found the weather being cool and slightly damp in more ways than one. Corvette Indy participants on Saturday were autocross participants Butch D, Mike G, and Frank & Cathy C and worker Bill L. Unfortunately for Frank and Cathy after making a few runs their Corvette developed a leak. At first it was thought to be an overfilling of the antifreeze catch tank, but after another couple of runs it was determined to be more serious. Once the reservoir tank was removed it was found to have a broken fitting and needed to be replaced. Fortunately for them they found the our sponsor Penske's part counter was open until 4PM on Saturday afternoon. With that knowledge they contacted Bob Y, who was able to purchase the part and deliver it to Frank at the evening's dinner party. Sunday morning they arrived early and had their Corvette back running and able to successfully complete all of Sunday's. The only other issues during the weekend were that Butch and Mike had to complete the last two runs in the rain, which did not help their times much! On Sunday Tammy joined the above group as a worker and John H drove his C4, with Mike's wife coming up in the afternoon for several great rides. A good weekend, with the weather holding off except for a few sprinkles Sunday got the racing complete by 2:00.
