Mecum Indy's Auction
On May 16 club members met at Greg's house to head down to the State Fairgrounds, the site of this year's auction. The five that got in to Jim N's Lexus were Jim, Greg B, Bob H, Robert S, and Bill L. It was a little tight but we did save the $5 for parking of a second car! Once there we headed in to the premises and met Nathan from Lingenfelter, who is a real friend of the club, and talked about some of his offerings and what he was looking to buy. Once inside Bob H headed off to get his buyers credentials as he is looking to purchase a Corvette convertible for a driver so that his '81 can remain pristine. The group wandered through the tents and buildings and watched Bob bid on a C4 Red convertible, which ended up going for too much money considering the condition it was in. He later bid on a few other cars, but let them go when they went past a reasonable price. He will be heading back later in the week in quest of a good deal. In our wanderings Greg felt that he was 16 again as he fell in love over 20 times during the day, but found nothing that convinced him to get a buyers card. We also assaulted the vendors while going through the tents to pick up items for the Main Event goodie bags. It was a fun day for all.
