Drive N Dunk 6/15
A small group was at McAlister's as most of the members that usually show up were on the Lingenfelter trip or off to see their fathers over the weekend. The few members that made it there were John H, Rich P, Jim A, and Darrell & Beth H.
John also sent a picture in of a friend of his that was there with the following information about him:
The C3 picture is a friend of mine, Paul Weishaar, with his '68 Corvette. He bought the car in 1969; and is the second owner. It is all original, unrestored, and has 367,000 miles on it!!!! For years, it was his year-round daily driver. He bought an '84 Corvette new but sold it after about two years. It was a first year C4 and was constantly in the shop with early C4 problems. Fortunately, he did not trade in the '68. I do not think he has owned any other Corvettes. Paul does not drive the car at night anymore. He is afraid the vacuum actuated pop-up headlights will pop up and not go down again.
John, thanks for the information and hopefully you can get Paul to attend a Corvette Indy meeting soon.
Jim A also took some pictures of the unique cars that were there, not many Vettes, but he found a few other interesting marques. Most notably were two De Tomaso Mangustas. Slightly over 400 Mangustas were built between 1967 and 1971, and preceded the more widely known De Tomaso Pantera.
Other interesting cars were the Jaguar XK140, and a very nice 1963 Corvair Spyder convertible.
Thanks Jim for the pictures and information on cars you don't see on he road everyday.
