Corvette Celebrates 60 Years
The National Corvette museum held a celebration of the 60 years of Corvette production on June 27. Starting out on a gray morning Greg & Donna B and Bill & Erika L drove down in the morning to meet up with Bob & Barb Y who had come down the day before. This was Bill & Erika's first trip to Bowling Green and they were greeted with 100's of Corvettes in the parking lot (not a usual sight!) and a special showing of the C7 for the celebration. A number of visitors were in town to also attend the NCCC national convention being held in conjunction with the special events at the Corvette Museum for this special week. The C7 exhibit was great as people were actually allowed to sit in the new production cars. A general consensus was that the new Lime Rock Green color was really striking especially if it was teamed up with the Kalahari interior. It was a lot of fun being actually get up close to the new C7, and hopefully the group on Robert's September trip can wangle a plant tour to see just how the new car is now assembled.
After leaving the museum and taking a roundabout trip to the motel (GPS's are not always correct) the newly arrived 4 headed to a restaurant to meet the other two and Jim & Claudine W for dinner. Jim & w Claudine were attending the convention and had just gotten back from Nashville, TN where the NCCC convention's track events had been held. Jim is again a proud winner of his events, so look for a new trophy in the Penske display case.
