Hunt for Best Tenderloin Day I - 4/12
Keith Riley has taken on the planning of a new set of Drive N Dines for the 2018 summer season. The Hunt for the Best Pork Tenderloin in Central Indiana will be held over 12 Thursdays with 2 per month in to September. The first one was to the Corner Restaurant in Rushville on what turned out to be the best weather day of the year so far, with sun and temperatures touching 80 degrees. Seventeen Corvettes met at the Sam's Club lot including Greg and Merlin who were there for the send off, but not the trip. Unfortunately the morning started with a bit of confusion as there were several starting times floating around. The flyer on the website (which had been updated from the original) had a meet at 11 / leave at 11:30. On Facebook it had 12 / 12:30 which may have been the original time. But to further confuse things, several at the golf outing on Tuesday had said noon in front of Keith who did not hear them so didn't correct the time then. Oh well, other than Noon time traffic on I-465 and on to IN-52, the group got to Rushville around 1:20 which actually put the meal after the restaurant's rush. Along the way we had a Corvette join in and met another at our destination. Once there member Tim McCord met the group as he had the parking places on a street nearby blocked off so that most everyone could line up together. Once inside a majority of the group ordered a tenderloin, while a few others got other sandwiches. Most couples either split the huge tenderloin or ended up with 2 take home boxes in their trunk. A good kickoff to the 'Hunt' and hopefully weather will be great also for the next ones. It will be interesting as the year continues to other locations to see how each one measures up.
