SVRA Races at IMS June 16
Jim Alvis sent in the following report & pictures from his Saturday at the track, he was there along with Bill Stafford:
The Sportcar Vintage Racing Association made its 5th annual visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on June 15-17. The event is loaded with older race cars as well as the modern day Trans-Am series. For those of us who grew up and witnessed the original Trans-Am series in the late 60s and early 70s, you can relive it. One of the highlights of the weekend is the Indy Legends Pro-Am Invitational race on Saturday afternoon. Former Indy 500 drivers and owners of late 60s and early 70s Trans-Am cars put on a great show. It was nice to hear drivers of older cars use the heel-and-toe double clutch method of rev matching. If you want to see and hear the sights and sounds of road racing as it was many years ago, this is a must-experience event.
