South to Brown County No - North to Bird's BBQ Yes
For a Sunday Drive N Dine on August 26 Greg had planned a trip to Brown County, but unfortunately the weather forecast showed rain storms popping up down in the area just about the time we would get there. So a vote was taken and the decision to stay dry and head North to Bird's Smokehouse BBQ was made. Those making the trip were Greg & Donna, Rich & Suzanne, Darrell & Beth, Bill & Erika, Dean & Zoe, Jeff & friend Charity, and Tom and his friend Marilyn, for a total of 7 Corvettes. The group headed out of Greg & Donna's North with a circling of the 96th street roundabout until everyone could get caught up. From there a circuitous route through Carmel and then up Spring Mill to SR32, West to the County Line road, North to 236th Street, across to Cicero and on to SR37 then North on 213 and East on 266th Street. At this point the more direct route might have been to turn North on SR13 to SR128, and then to I69 but to keep the drive alive we headed South on SR13 until SR38 which took across I69 and into Pendleton and continuing out on SR38. Heading East and with some of the group getting hungry we finally turned North on SR3 to SR67 and West to Bird's. Once we got to our destination everyone had to stretch and limber up from the almost 140 mile 2.25 hour drive. We missed the lunch crowd and practically had the restaurant to ourselves. Once we left Bird's we all headed down I69 with everyone except Tom getting off at exit 10. From there Bill & Erika and Dean & Zoe headed to their homes, while the remaining four Corvettes headed to a promised DQ for the days Drive N Dip.
