Princess Theater Car Show 08/26

Member Tim McCord held his second annual car show to help with the restoration of the Princess Theater in Rushville. This year a group of members met at the Olive Garden near Noblesville for a caravan to it. Those meeting there were Bill & Erika Lapham, Paul & Londa Habecker, Jim Shaver, Charlie Sherman, Wylie Etscheid, Greg & Donna along with Merlin Bowron, and James Burt with one of his daughters. Once the waiver was signed and potty breaks taken the group headed down Fortville Pike to IN 52 and into Rushville. Along the way Ray & Sherry Chester caught up to the caravan so there were 8 club Corvettes pulling into the Amphitheater location. Of course they were greeted by John Rash who had staked out the #1 spot early in the morning right next to Tim's Corvette. As the morning progressed members Bob & Linda Ray along with Marvin & Priscilla arrive and then two new members Jeff Houser and Ann Harlan and his red C4 signed up. The very interesting thing is that Jeff was one of Tim's teachers in high school, so a long time friendship. The show had about 30 entrants, which was 4 times the 8 that were there in the rain last year for the first one. There was very inexpensive food there including ears of corn, hot dogs, pulled pork, and other items with most items $1 and none more than $2, all supplied by the Rush County Players. The day was beautiful but hot and as it progressed Merlin's furry coat got the best of him with Greg & Donna needing to leave early. The rest of the group sat around enjoying the afternoon and swapping chairs as Paul had not loaded any the evening before. They finally moved to a table in the trees to enjoy a bit of shade too. As this show's purpose is to raise funds and they don't yet have a trophy sponsor there were only three trophies this year with more promised for next years. After waiting for the mayor of Rushville to make an afternoon swing through the cars they were presented with a '55 BelAir getting participants choice Best in Show, our own John Rash got the Mayor's trophy, and a '70 Skylark got over all Best in Show. As John was walking back to his Vette he recounted that he had attended a show in Rushville 34 years before and had gotten the Mayor's Trophy then too! A fun day and trip down to Rushville with a relaxing atmosphere for all. Tim looking is already forward and planning next year's show that will be on August 25, 2018.
