29th Annual Main Event 9/28~9/30
For the first time in recent memory Corvette Indy's annual event was held at Grissom Areoplex due to a very last minute scheduling issue with a location in Indianapolis. This change of venue happened late Monday of Main Event week and with quick work by Chairman Butch DeWitt and Governor Bill Lapham were able to line up Grissom, change the National database and sign contracts for the new location and inform a number of competitors of it. This along with having Corvette Indy members make changes to their plans for working the annual event.
Friday evening setup was done after 5 due the the facility not being available until then. To facilitate using the Grissom location Butch & Bill decided to use Mike Godfrey and his timing equipment setup as he has a lot of experience at Grissom. Corvette Indy people did run the equipment on both days. Saturday went very well with the over 30 competitor running all of their runs by 1:45. After the runs were made the 50/50 and raffle drawings were made. Since it was so early in the afternoon a number left with those in the area coming back at 5 for a BBQ dinner being provided by the club and setup by Tammy with Keith cooking away on the grill.
