Fishers Freedom Festival Parade
On Sunday, June 24, the Freedom Festival Parade kicked off with a large group of Corvette Indy members enjoying the extremely hot day in the city of Fishers. There were 11 Corvettes in attendance with the following members, Greg & Donna, Rich & Suzanne, Randy & Sherry, Darrell & Beth, Jim & Bonnie, Bill & Erika, Chis & Paula, Susie & Terry, Jeff, James & his daughter, and Mike. As with most parades it was a hurry to line up then wait, unfortunately we were required to move up a bit in the staging area, but were again able to get shade for our chairs as we waited.
The parade went off smoothly but also at a very slow pace. None of the cars overheated, but reports of a C6 shutting off the air conditioning as its brain thought it was too hot and a C5's radio shutting down also were indications of just how hot it was out. For that matter an outside temperature of 102 was seen on a dash thermometer as the group drove away from the parade route.
Once the event was over the first 8 of the group headed to Rick's Boathouse for a celebratory dinner as it was also Chris's birthday. Meeting us at the restaurant were John & Diana along with Terry a friend of Chris & Paula. The meal, as always, was great and cake and brownies were brought along by a couple of the members to celebrate the birthday. There were also several gifts given, that may or may not be used for their originally intended purpose. There was also a new 'lamb' bank given for Chris to save up for long tube headers.
There were donations made to the header fund, but it was determined that he still needed to get 99.9999% of the cost in to the bank.
