​2017 Christmas Party 10/09

The annual Christmas party was again held at the Carmel Legion which easily held the nearly 120 members that were in attendance. The weather was clear and cold for a crisp evening to celebrate the Christmas and Holiday Season. With the tables decorated before 6, everything was ready as the rest of the members arrived for an hour of mingling before the buffet that was served at 7 to the then hungry group. The meal was scrumptious with the Legion's cook Mary out doing herself with ribs that could hardly be picked up as they were so tender and fried chicken that was great. Once everyone was full, and probably some ready for a nap, there was a visit from Santa and his elf. They gave out candy canes and then had pictures taken with some of the members while the evening's entertainment started up. This was also after Paul presented Wylie a plaque for his service to the club the past two years as President. Then Wylie surprised Bill with a shirt for his continued service as club Webmaster. Bill will be continuing on after his latest appointment from incoming president Ray. Then the music returned with John Vess getting up to lead the group singing karaoke of traditional and some not so traditional Christmas songs. As the evening progressed other guys joined in as Charlie, Wylie, Greg, John, Jim, and Keith sang away with further assistance from ladies Marg, Donna B, the three Sherry's, Sherry W, Sherry S, and Sherry C, along with Sharon, Donna D, Kim, and Janet lending their voices to the evenings enjoyment. There were even a few slow songs for those that wanted to dance. As the evening wound down there were some that headed out before 9 while the party continued until the 10 o'clock hour and the last songs were sung so that the legion personal could finish cleaning up. As everyone left they took a final look at the Christmas tree that had a great pile of presents now under it to be distributed to families in need. Also during the evening an additional $400 was collected for the 4 families that the club is sponsoring during this year's holiday season.
