​Strawberry Festival Car Show 6/9

This year's Strawberry Festival Car Show in Crawfordsville was their 18th Annual Corvette show on Saturday of the three day festival. As in past year's a number of Corvette Indy members headed over in mid morning to enjoy the afternoon there. A small caravan left from Bill & Erika Lapham's including Linda White, Gary & Marian Cole, John Vess, and Keith Riley. They headed to IN 32 and were soon pulling into the Pilot station at 74 & 32 where they joined up with a group the Janet & Gary McIntyre had gathered including David & Jody Hall, Mark & Jan Rothrock, Harry & Tillie Barthalow, Joe & Marilyn Travis, and about to be new members Chris Childs & Heidi Harrison. Once at the festival site that group of 11 Corvettes joined another group of members already there including Bob & Carolyn Shelton, Dick & Bonnie Pacetti, Randy & Sherry Sprague, Rich & Susan Bellville, and Butch DeWitt. Then arriving direct from home, after letting Sherry get a nap after her midnight shift, Ray and Sherry Chester for a total of 17 Corvette representing Corvette Indy. Soon as everyone was busy doing their final clean up the unfortunately anticipated rain of later in the day started in earnest. Quickly everyone buttoned up and were trying to sit out the storm for a bit. Unfortunately the rain gods were not playing nice and the show organizer decided to move the show to his nearby car lot which had cover and a bit of room inside their building. This certainly worked out well, as soon as the group got there the rain picked up even more. The job of drying and cleaning started over again, to the point that John Vess was being lobbied to give double points for the show. Not sure how that will fly though. Once everyone had finished cleaning some headed off to nearby restaurants while others enjoyed the dry location. We even had Susie Hale and Terry Sitzer, who were camping in the area, stop by. The point tallying was done early and the trophies announce around 3. Corvette Indy members did very well in the Top 15 and special award categories. Everyone had a great time and the club gained two more members that will join us at other events in the near future.
