2016 Drive N Dunks
Drive N Dunk aka Cars & Coffee or Cars & Corvettes!
What has become our generally most attended event, other than meeting nights, the McAlister's South of 96th Street continues to be 'the' Saturday morning place for both men and women members of the club to gather. One never knows who will show up and which along with which Corvettes will be there. The morning events usually start at around 9:00 and go to near noon depending on the crowd and how many Corvettes or other cars there are to view and how deep the discussions get. Members even drive their 'metal' car to the event to be a part of the group in all types of weather year around.
Conversation among Members and other car enthusiasts is always interesting and lively. With a number of tables inside for their coffee and discussions the members have even morphed in to separate guys and gals tables with discussion topics suited to each.

Over twenty Corvette Indy members showed up for the last Drive & Dunk of 2016. Lots of conversations going on at the same time. One item of interest was a new graphic for the Main Event T-shirts. The proposed graphic was passed around to get member's reactions. Initial reaction was very positive since the graphic shows a Corvette negotiating pylons, depicting an autocross. Our server Brenda took very good care of us this morning, as usual. Alan C was the only member to drive his Corvette this morning while everyone else drove their metal cars. Happy New Year to all Corvette Indy members and friends, and we will see you in 2017. Thanks to Jim Alvis for the year's final report.

A near normal gathering this morning thanks to the much improved weather compared to last Saturday. Brenda brought out the remaining cake from last Saturday and it was enjoyed by all. John V brought a Christmas card for all of us to sign along with a coffee mug. We passed the mug to take up a collection to show our appreciation to Brenda for being so friendly and helpful to the group. Today's topics of discussion included sports, speeding on 465, the one week Bowling Green plant shutdown, and more information about the new LT5 engine from GM. According to informed sources, the new LT5 will be a double overhead cam 6.2L V8 that should be available for the Corvette in 2018. Everyone wished each other a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays until we meet next Saturday.
Thanks to Jim Alvis for this week's pictures and writeup!!

With the ice conditions and the local news media blowing it way out of proportion as usual, only 7 adventurous Corvette Indy members made it to share a cake from Brenda at McAllister's at this morning's Drive N Dunk. Still a fun time as usual. Special thanks to McAlister's who agreed to open their store early just for Corvette Indy's Saturday morning Drive N Dunk when Paradise Cafe closed their nearby store. Double thanks to Brenda and the other associates that treat us so ...special each Saturday. Merry Christmas to all of you. If you want to join the fun stop by any Saturday from 9 to 11am when there will be usually 20 to 30 club members enjoying coffee or breakfast and good conversation to start the weekend off. The ladies of the club decided to start their own table so they could solve world issues while the boys talk about their toys. Friends and guests are always welcome! If the weather is bad or your Corvette is taking its long winter nap, drive your metal car.

In spite of the brisk temperature this morning, there was a strong turnout of Corvette Indy members, sans Corvettes. One topic of interest this morning was the red 1963 300hp 4-speed convertible that was recently traded in at Penske Chevrolet. It is currently on display in their showroom. According to preliminary reports, it is a nice car and reasonably priced. One of our members was going to stop and check it out on his way home. Tonight is Corvette Indy's annual Christmas party at the American Legion Post 155 in Carmel. McAlister's employee Brenda has been taking very good care of us on Saturday mornings, and a 'hat' was passed to show our appreciation. Thanks to Jim Alvis for the report and pictures of everyone this week.

One of many different topics discussed this morning was the unexpected announcement from Chevrolet/Corvette on Friday that the Sterling Blue Metallic paint option will be discontinued in February 2017. Chevrolet gave no specific reason for discounting the color, or if there would be a replacement color. Charlie Sherman is smiling, having picked up their Sterling Blue Metallic Grand Sport at the NCM a couple of months ago. That may become a very desirable color in the future due to its relative rarity. Other topics included Top Tier fuel from Shell and Costco, whether to burn regular, mid-grade, or premium fuel in your Corvette, fired college football coaches, and the upcoming Corvette Indy annual Holiday Christmas party on December 10. Thanks to Jim Alvis for the report & pictures. |

About twenty Corvette Indy members and friends turned out for the weekly Corvettes & coffee at McAlister's Deli on Saturday morning. It was a mix of eight Corvettes and a few metal cars, and lots of varied conversation. Some members had put their Vettes up for the long winter's nap, while others will take their Vettes out for some exercise when the roads are clear and dry this winter.

With a first breath of winter upon the morning the Corvette Indy members all brought their metal cars to this week's Drive N Dunk at McAlister's. Among those was Keith with his new Caddy which was soon admired by Wylie and others. The men had their usual discussions while the ladies were joined by Terri and her three grandchildren along with Donna's daughter in-law and granddaughter for a full table too. With the cold weather, holiday coming up, and no Corvettes to look at the group broke up around 10:30 and headed for the warmth at their homes.

There was a strong turnout of Corvette Indy folks for today's Drive N Dunk (Corvettes & Coffee) at McAlister's Deli. Everyone was glad the presidential election is finally over. There was some discussion about the outcome, but all are ready to move on. Another topic of discussion was the annual Veterans Day parade the previous day. About 55 Corvettes from several local Corvette clubs participated in the parade. Corvette Indy members who participated enjoyed the parade and many followed it with lunch at Rick's Café Boatyard.

It was another beautiful and cool Saturday morning. That resulted in about sixteen Corvettes and their happy occupants. This morning's conversations included the upcoming election of club officers Monday evening for 2017, and the annual Veterans Day parade in downtown Indy on Friday the eleventh. As always, Corvette Indy members and guests are encouraged to participate.

The last Saturday of October had a good turnout of Corvettes as the day was in the 60's and dry. The new location is working well with everyone settling in to McAlister's and enjoying their good service of refills and being interested in the customers. With the request for pictures of couples with their Corvettes for the Christmas party several took advantage of the fall color back ground to get new ones taken. The group broke up a bit earlier than usual as most were headed home to put the finishing touches on their costumes for Rita's Spooktackular party this evening.

There was a smaller than normal turnout for the weekly Drive & Dunk at McAlister's Deli. Quite a few of the regulars either stopped by briefly, or went directly to Penske Chevrolet for the employee/customer cookout. The weather was sunny and a chilly 42° to start the day. As always, Corvette Indy members and friends are welcome to participate.

Our second Drive & Dunk at McAlister's Deli was much smoother as the employees and CI members are getting used to the new Saturday morning routine. Greg B brought samples of Corvette Indy car flags to show everyone and to take orders. Topics of conversation included Jerry and Elaine's one day road trip tomorrow (Sunday 10-16) to enjoy the fall colors in Ohio, Al and Terri's Drive & Dine on Tuesday, October 18th to the Skillman Collector Car Museum, and discussions about Michigan left turns and roundabouts. Charlie Sherman drove his new Sterling Silver convertible to the gathering. He is still a bit sore following shoulder surgery on Monday. There were three 2017 Grand Sports in the parking lot: Jim and Shelley Noelle, Terry Adams, and Charlie Sherman – beautiful cars.

A New Dawn at McAlister's
For a first morning being open for the club the restaurant was very ready for us with hot coffee, ice tea, and a number of items available. In response to the new (old as this is where Drive N Dunk stated) location 24 Corvettes and around 30 members enjoyed being there. Part of the group parted around 9:30 to head to Butler for the annual homecoming parade, a Corvette Indy tradition. The rest of the group enjoyed their usual gab fest and then headed out to enjoy the day and get prepared for Kellam's Cookout later in the evening.

Paradise Lost ~ McAlister's Rising
A cool and cloudy morning was further dampened by the news that the Paradise Cafe is closing on Tuesday 10/4 and we were losing our Saturday morning meeting place. That became the talk of the morning on where we could find to meet next Saturday and beyond. There was also talk about the Red Bull air races and other Corvette related items, including a lady with a C7 dropping by to see if anyone was interested in buying it, with Ross talking to her about her auto business. The day had been brightened with Donna being able to make the morning talk fest for the first time since her accident. Discussion continued in the parking lot with Greg checking out McAlister's to see exactly what time that they open on Saturday. The manager was positive about opening at least by 9, and then later called Greg to confirm that McAlister's will be available for us to use starting next Saturday 10/8 with parking along the West side much like we been parking this summer in the Paradise lot. See you from now on there on Saturdays!!

It was an overcast but dry morning for the weekly Drive 'n Dunk at Paradise Bakery and Café. The turnout was lower than usual, and as always, the conversation was informative and entertaining. Pat and Carol Hogan stopped in while they were having some service work performed on their C5 at Penske Chevrolet.

Inclement weather kept the Corvettes in owner's garages for the second Saturday in a row. This morning's conversations included more speculation about the upcoming C8 Corvettes, a lot of reminiscing about our high school days and muscle cars of that era, and the large group of members who will be heading to the Ertel Cellars Winery near Batesville for lunch tomorrow (Sunday). It is always a good time at the weekly Saturday morning gatherings at Paradise Café & Bakery. Members and friends are always welcome.

The heavy downpour about the time people were heading to this morning's drive & dunk kept all Corvettes at home in dry garages. A few of the regulars did brave the downpour in their metal vehicles. Several members were headed to the Westport car show. Even though the turnout was light, the conversations were wide and varied. Subjects included the lengthy meeting on Tuesday, college football, start of the NFL season, and the annual club memorial picnic tomorrow(Sunday, 9-11) at Southeastway Park. Linda W stopped by long enough to grab a tea and say hello. By the time the group broke up, the rain had passed and the streets were nearly dry.

What a change of weather with the start of a new month as Saturday's was as beautiful a day as could be asked for. This brought out a bevy of Corvettes to line up the back row of Paradise Cafe and the members continually were out viewing them and enjoying the cool clear day. One of the center of attractions was Jim & Shelley's new Grand Sport with many sitting in and a few getting rides, along with Bill & Erika's seldom seen '70 coupe 'Ruby'. Jim Alvis dropped by with a positive report on Judy's surgery, with the hope she would be released later in the day. The ladies group was a bit smaller, but they were still able to cover many issues including Shelley's slow recovery from the flu and Donna's daughters wedding dress issues. The group broke up by a little after 11, with some lamenting that nothing club wise had been planned for the day, but they were quickly reminded that it would then have rained!

The turnout this morning was down considerably with most of the 'regulars' headed to Bowling Green. About 25 Corvettes and their happy occupants were on their way to the National Corvette Museum for the club's first voluntary work party. The few of us that did not head south had our usual good conversation. Keith R showed up with his recent purchase of a C6 convertible, and Charlie B displayed his trophy from last Saturday's Corvette Indy all Corvette Car Show. (Note: Final count to Bowling Green 19 Corvettes & 2 'Metal' cars)

For the first time in eight weeks, it was a rainy Saturday morning. Most left their Corvettes in a dry garage, but three drove them to Drive & Dunk(Corvettes & Coffee) anyway. Conversations were wide and varied, but three centered on last weekend's great trip to southern Indiana, Corvette Indy's 5th annual car show on August 20 at the Carmel American Legion Post #155, and the club's work weekend at the NCM on August 27-28. Most were scurrying to their vehicles between the heavy but short downpours.

There was a smaller than normal turnout this morning due to many Corvette Indy members participating in the club overnight trip in southern Indiana. On the way to the Drive & Dunk, Keith S was waiting at a stop light at 75th and Binford Avenue. A young female was along side in a Dodge hemi powered vehicle. A stoplight challenge ensued, and Keith had to exert his personal and Corvette pride by showing the young lady what 460 horsepower will do against her hemi. Needless to say, Keith was wearing a big smile when he arrived for coffee, and he received accolades from his Corvette Indy friends. The small group was also treated to some unexpected entertainment. It seemed a young man in a late model pickup truck was driving erratically in the Carmel area when three Carmel Police pulled him over right outside the Paradise Bakery. We got to see first hand the young man being interviewed and tested for stability, then the police conducted a search of the pickup. They located some suspected illegal substances, put him in hand cuffs, and hauled the pickup to a new location on a flatbed hauler. Other conversations centered around the latest speculation about mid-engine Corvettes for 2019, and C7 production through 2021, and the possibility of a new ZR1. It was definitely an interesting morning. Thanks to Jim Alvis for the pictures and report.

A smaller but still lively group met for coffee and conversation today at Paradise Bakery. Turnout was a bit smaller due to the Classical Glass and Circle City Corvettes car shows. We did have one new member sign up and a potential member got membership information from Tammy. Thanks to Jim A who then headed to the Classical Glass Car Show and Jim Shaver who stopped by the Circle City show to document them. Check the car show pages for their reports.

On what turned out to be the hottest weekend of the year (of course it is the Brickyard Weekend) the member and Corvette count was very good at the Paradise Cafe' with 20 Corvettes and over 30 members in attendance. Lots of boisterous conversations were being held through out the morning with too many topics to recount. Discussions did include the trip to southern Indiana in two weeks and other upcoming club events. As the morning wound down most everyone was headed back home to confirm their air conditioning was still functioning properly!

Another great Saturday weather wise brought out a number of members and Corvettes to the weekly morning assembly. Most of the Corvettes headed to the lot next door to park as a portion of the Paradise lot was being sealed. Those that had parked near the door soon moved to less vulnerable spots as no one wanted to be 'over' coated. Discussions covered upcoming trips, recent changes in the Governor's race, and general Corvette related items. Some moved on to the patio to visit the members outside that had brought their furry friends. The ladies stayed inside until ready to leave while all of the remaining guys joined the group outside to 'enjoy' the asphalt fragrance of the lot.

There was a considerably smaller turnout this morning as many of the regulars were participating in one of two drives plus the rallies in Anderson. A large group was headed to Stream Cliff Herb Farm in Commiskey, IN and the other group was headed to a fund raiser/car display in Advance, IN. As small as the turnout was, we had great conversation. We were joined by perspective member Lou and his C7 Z06. We learned quickly that Lou is a through and through car guy of all kinds, especially Corvettes. The parking lots at Paradise Café and adjoining McAlister's are undergoing sealing and striping, consequently parking was limited. Hopefully it will be completed by next Saturday.

On a cool and cloudy morning with no rain in site a number of members and their Corvettes made it to the club's Saturday morning get-together. Some of the discussions were about how Bloomington Gold went the previous weekend, and other than the autocross run by Corvette Indy, just how chaotic things were again in the use of club member volunteers to help out. A number had volunteered to work all three days and at the last minute told they were only needed for one. This along with another year of little direction by the promoters has not left a good impression on those that attended and worked. There was also a few discussions about the upcoming weekend and unfortunate rain forecast for both Sunday and especially Monday as there are 4th of July events including the Carmel parade and Westfield Headliner car show, both of which have a number of club members signed up for.
With many members doing Bloomington Gold or just on vacation, we had 8 members and 8 Vettes show up at Paradise. Even with the small crowd it lasted until 11am. Conversations hit Bloomington Gold, Fishers Parade, Wreaked Vettes, Bill R's power walks at the mall, and Merlin. It was very quiet without Shep... go figure.
Thanks to Ross for the pictures and write-up (with comments).

A warm and bright Saturday morning brought a big group of members to Paradise Cafe', with some enjoying the indoor air conditioning and others the sunny patio. We did have a few of the regulars missing due to the Legends race at IMS today, look for a report from them soon. Among the 18 or so Corvettes there was John & Ruth Vess's newly minted '95 Pace Car which was a beautifully done. During the morning Ross delivered a number of the 'Member Since' pins and successfully sold a number of the new license plate frames. Later in the morning a pristine '63 Convertible pulled up and the owner and his son were quickly made aware of the benefits of CI membership and our upcoming car show. Unfortunately a great deal of the day's discussions were around Jim & Shelley's accident after leaving Parky's on Thursday. Both are OK with Shelley a bit sore but the C7 is in desperate need of a new front-end. The car will be soon moved to Penske Collision where it will be hopefully healed better than new.

Two separate groups met at Paradise Bakery & Café this morning. The first group of about 12 Corvettes were headed to Crawfordsville for the annual Strawberry Festival and car show. This has become a favorite of Corvette Indy members because of the location, food, and the wide variety of activities. The second and smaller group was composed of several of the Saturday morning regulars. We welcomed Rich Peters back home from his out-of-town employment. Being the second Saturday of the month, five departed Paradise for a short trip to Cars & Coffee at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Those included Jim A, Jim S, Ross G, Greg T, and new member Lew in his 2007 black Z06 . Barry R and friend were there also. In spite of the heat, there was a pretty sizable turnout that included everything form antique cars to sports cars, muscle cars, hot rods, and everything in between. The cars there including several Corvettes, a Lotus or two, many versions of Porsche, an XKE, and a few hot rods. They all agreed it was well worth the drive down. For those looking to go upscale on a BIG budget, there was a beautiful Bentley available with a sticker price of $244,000. The Cars & Coffee gathering at IMS takes place on the second Saturday every month during good weather. Thanks to Jim S, Jim A, & Ross G for the pictures & report.

A good group of members and Corvettes made their way to the weekly Drive N Dunk even with Legends day at IMS draining a few of the faithful away. A Main Event meeting brought a few extra members in as final plans were made and times set for Friday's setup day and the weekend's events. Discussions covered the last week and the later in the day IMS track events the club members had or would be enjoying along with the weather finally letting us drive our Corvettes. Keith got pictures taken of his newly purchased C5 and a lesson on how to put the top down.

With rain over night only a few Corvettes made it this morning but still a good group of both areas of members enjoyed the weekly get together. Conversations were mainly on cars seen at Mecum over the past few days and the upcoming track events at IMS, with the next one early on Sunday morning.
The "World According to Ross" report: We had 2 Vettes show up on an early rainy morning, that turned into a decent afternoon. Keith Riley showed up in his newly acquired C5 Magnetic Red Convertible, and Jim Shaver's Z06. The primary talk was about Mecum's Auction (Thank You Mecum Reps for supplying club members with free entry tickets). Jerry Croy regaled us with his stint as staging and auction driver on Tues & Wed. Congrats Jerry. The 100th running of the 500 also took much of the other conversations. We also thanked Greg Bowron and our Sponsor Mike Quinn from Chevrolet when at the last minute on Thursday, a Brickyard Crossing golf outing taking place early Friday morning had a few slots that needed filling, and Mike Quinn used several lucky members from CI to fill those slots. We still have no idea what the ladies talked about. Maybe someday they will tell us.
Thanks to Ross for his additional pictures and "informative" report.

A cold front passed through Indiana overnight, and this morning it was 46° with wind gusts to 20mph. In spite of the unseasonably cool morning, a few Corvettes did show up for Drive & Dunk. Bob W surprised us with a new pair of 'kids' shoes with flashing red LEDs around the soles. They were a great match to his red C7. Ross G brought in some Main Event t-shirts for a couple of members and passed around a questionnaire regarding Corvette Indy license plate frames. Two retirements were noted during the past week. Alan C proudly displayed his "retired' badge from the Marion County Sheriffs Department, and Barry R retired from Butler University. We wish both an enjoyable retirement, although it sounds as if Alan will remain busy as a Reserve deputy. All in all, it was an interesting and entertaining morning. Thanks to Jim Alvis for the pictures and report.

With rain looking imminent, and with many club members going to West Lafayette "Vettes for Vets", we had a very small crowd today. Terry A, Gary M, and Alan C. brought out their Vettes. Alan even had to make a quick dash to put his top on with Gary's help when the rains came in. Greg B ran to get his sun roof closed with Merlin huddling out of the rain. We were all guessing how wet our Lafayette bound comrades were getting and we were all giving our 2 cents worth of food management advice on how to keep Paradise from running out of food. We ended a little early and Ross & Alan wandered over to Cars & Coffee, where Graham Rahal & Conor Daly were present in a Ferrari F40.

No Corvettes in the parking lot this morning. The rainy morning kept all Corvettes away and all but a few loyal Corvette Indy members. Wylie E, Ross G, and Jim S did stop by briefly before heading to the old airport long term parking lot to help Butch with pre Main Event planning. Thanks to Jim A for pics & the report.

There was a somewhat smaller turnout at Drive 'n Dunk (Corvettes & Coffee) at Paradise Café this morning. Several of the 'regulars' had gone to Penske Chevrolet to help set up for the cookout for their employees. Most of those who did show up migrated over to join the others. As usual, conversations were wide and varied. It was a beautiful morning for driving a Corvette. Thanks to Jim Alvis for the report and pictures.

What a difference a WEEK makes in Indiana.. from snow the previous week to 70's for this weekend. Along with the beautiful sunshine, 22 Corvettes made it out to the weekly Drive N Dunk Saturday morning event. Most everyone was inside with 10 ladies at their back table and more than 20 guys at the front corner tables. Lots of conversations as always including upcoming car shows and other Corvette Indy events in the near future. Afterwards Bill & Erika headed up to Kellam's to retrieve Ruby as it was time to bring her back home for the summer season. Jim & Pam are now down to just two visiting Corvettes and their own two, so lots of room for Jim's mower!

A cold and spitting snow morning greeted the members as they headed to Paradise Café for the Saturday morning get together. A lot of the discussions were about the cold weather and when the Corvettes could reappear as there was only Gary's lonely one was in the lot this week. Also discussed were the upcoming ladies painting event on Sunday and the dine in Kokomo Saturday afternoon for Jim Kellam's birthday. Hopefully with the weather predicted to get warmer next week there will be bigger turnout of Corvettes to see.
Jim Alvis also sent in his report and pictures:
Only one Corvette make it to D & D this brisk morning, but plenty of Corvette Indy folks showed up. Terry A brought his recent purchase of the Legos Corvette Z06, and Jim A shared the latest issue of America's Sports Car. Both items attracted a lot of attention. Several guys saying the Legos Z06 will be perfect for their grandkids. The current issue of America's Sports Car (publication of the National Corvette Museum) showcases the next three inductees into the Corvette Hall of Fame this summer; Bob Bondurant (Racing), Ralph Kramer (GM/Chevrolet), and Donna Mae Mims (Enthusiast). Of particular interest to Indianapolis natives is the bio of Ralph Kramer. Ralph was a reporter for the Indianapolis News in 1973 when he had the opportunity to hear GM President Ed Cole speak at Purdue University. Ralph was struck by Ed's presentation when he did not have prepared notes to guide him. Ralph's review of Ed's presentation was published in the News, and two days later he received notice from GM that they wanted a meeting with him. As it turned out, Ralph was offered a job as a writer in the GM executive public relations staff. He eventually ended up being the point PR person for Chevrolet about the time the C4s were coming into existence. Read the full bio to learn the rest of the story. All three inductees' backgrounds are certainly deserving Hall of Fame recognition. Ralph has the connection to Indianapolis.

A brisk but dry Saturday morning drew about twelve Corvettes and twenty people. We were treated to the appearance of Al and Terri's grandkids for a while before they were off to do other things. Topics of conversation ranged from Monday night's meeting agenda to sign-ups for various upcoming Corvette Indy events, namely The Main Event autocross, and Bloomington Gold at IMS. Some were even 'helping' Larry G with his new home in Ashville, NC. All in all, a very active and informative morning. As always thanks to our Facebook Editor, Jim Alvis, for the Saturday morning report and pictures.

On a more typical March day only 3 and then 1 additional Corvette made their way to the Saturday morning club gathering. The group of members inside was a little smaller too with the regulars including only four ladies at their private table. Of course discussions included the bracket busting that happened with Purdue & Michigan State's early losses and not much insight on who would make it through subsequent rounds. There was also the general Corvette discussions with the new Grand Sport getting a lot of nods. Some were also talking about the new LARGE 4k TV's and who is looking to purchase one soon. As always a good morning of fun and laughter by all.

With the weather cloudy but in the 50's 11 Corvettes and a gaggle of CI members descended on Paradise Café. In the men's area Jim N's decibel meter showed 95 while the ladies area was in the mid 70's. So based on those numbers there were MANY conversations going on, with everyone enjoying themselves. As the weather starts to improve the group will on continue to increase, but also head out to the parking lot to check out the Corvettes on display.

The first Saturday in March brought out several Corvettes and a lot of members as nearly 30 guys and gals descended on Paradise Café. The weather was still cool, but everyone is talking about getting their insurance put back on (if not already) and being prepared to drive during the next week or so of spring like temperatures. Otherwise there was a lot of general discussions from politics to the newly released Grand Sport, with several planning to order them.

Ten or so Corvettes and nearly twenty Corvette Indy folks showed up this morning at Paradise Bakery & Café. The weather was cool, bright, and clear which made for a nice early morning drive. More and more corvettes are slowly coming out of hibernation. Club Merchandise Director Ross brought a bag of 50 Corvette Indy 2016 pins for distribution. The pins are 1" diameter, and are ideal to be displayed on caps, shirts, jackets, just about anything. The pins are available for order on the club's website under the 'For Sale' tab on the main page, or available at the March 7 meeting. There was also a lot of discussion and anticipation about upcoming events for the new year. Thanks to Jim Alvis for the pictures and report and for Bill Reynolds proving that Jim "was there".

A report from both Jim's and a number of pictures today from them and a picture from Bill Reynolds.
Jim Shaver's: Another beautiful February day brought out a sizable group of Corvettes. We even had a couple of new owners join us. We were all happily surprised to see Greg Toolan drive up in his C6. Greg is recovering nicely from his recent heart attack, naturally there was a good bit of conversation about the attack and then treatment. Steve Head, Mary McConnell, and Marge and John Herder spent much of the morning in a corner pouring over maps planning a future drive n dine.
Jim Alvis's: Today was the first really good weather day of 2016 to get the Corvettes out of hibernation for a drive to Paradise Bakery & Café. Early on the roads were damp with some mist from other vehicles, but it did not deter about 15 Corvettes from showing up. We were very pleased to see Greg Toolan join in following his recent bypass surgery. He looks and feels great, and is happy to join his Corvette friends once again. One main topic of discussion this morning was the new location for The Main Event June 4 and 5. The Herders and Steve Head and Mary McConnell were busy planning a special overnighter the first weekend in August. More details later..

It was a cold(8°) but clear morning, but not cold enough to discourage about 20 Corvette Indy folks and one Corvette from showing up for conversation and camaraderie. Keith S picked up his new Corvette Indy jacket from Ross G. Unfortunately there was no yellow on his new jacket to match the yellow calipers on his C7. Everyone is anxious for warmer weather when we can once again enjoy our Corvettes. Thanks to Jim Alvis for this week's report and pictures.

For the first Saturday in February the salty roads kept the Corvette count down to 3 but the member count was higher than normal with the sunny but cold morning. The discussions were varied at both the ladies and men's tables. A small group broke off to go over revising the Club Participation points to hopefully encourage more activity among the Corvette Indy club members.

A beautiful January day brought out a good turnout of Corvettes for our weekly get together. The warmer than normal morning and sunshine brought out several Corvettes and their happy drivers. The sunny morning definitely had an affect on everyone's outlook. Topics of conversation ranged from the Barrett-Jackson auction to the 24 Hours of Daytona. We also bounced around ideas for changing ways to earn club points. Also lots of laughter and story-telling covering numerous other subjects. Keith was able to laugh even though his investment portfolio has decreased 15% since the first of the year. He still receives comments about his yellow calipers, all in good fun, of course. Thanks to Jim Shaver & Jim Alvis for the pictures and reports.

Sunny but cold morning brought out a good turnout for our weekly get together. Due the cold and salty roads, no Corvettes ventured out. As always, conversation topics were all over the place. We reminisced about the muscle cars of the 60s and 70s. There was also discussion of the challenges faced by the areas hit by the weekend's blizzard. By far the best quote of the morning: "I learn a lot here but none of it is relevant." Thanks to Jim Shaver for the report and pictures, and wishing Jim Alvis speedy recovery from a low level case of pneumonia.

It was not exactly 'paradise' getting to the weekly Drive & Dunk at Paradise Bakery this morning. Driveways, side roads and parking lots were slick with patches of ice. Rich P found out the hard way. He slipped and fell on his driveway at home, and then curbed the right front tire and wheel of Machelle's vehicle turning into the Paradise parking lot. Fortunately Rich is fine, but the vehicle suffered some minor cosmetic damage. In spite of the small turnout, the group had its usual good conversation. Thanks to Jim Alvis for braving the roads and sending in the report and pictures.

Fortunately Rich is fine, but the vehicle suffered some minor cosmetic damage. In spite of the small turnout, the group had its usual good conversation. Thanks to Jim Alvis for braving the roads and sending in the report and pictures.

Despite the threat of rain, there was a good turnout for coffee and conversation this morning. Terry Adams was the only one brave enough to bring out his Corvette. The topic of Monday night's championship game led to conversations about great plays and players from the past. At the other end of the table the discussions also included some of the local HS football games and Terry's upcoming schedule. Ross also had some interest about his new merchandise pages that he just got done for the Corvette Indy website, with several members looking forward to checking the new catalog out.
Thanks to Jim Shaver for the report and both he and Jim Alvis for the pictures this week.

The first Drive & Dunk (aka Corvettes & Coffee) for 2016 took place on a beautiful but cold Saturday morning. About 25 Corvette Indy guys and gals showed up to talk about New Years Eve activities, bowl games, investment opportunities won and lost, and other topics. We all know sports car related activities begin to pick up this month, including several high end collector car auctions in Arizona, and ultimately the Rolex 24 hour endurance race at the Daytona International Speedway on January 30-31. (Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs finished first and third in class last year.) All of this means warmer weather and another season of fun Corvette activities is just around the corner.
As always thanks to Jim Avis for pictures and this week's report plus Bill Reynolds for taking a picture of Jim to 'prove he was there' too!
