Brown County Fun Day
On October 2 the Indiana Region of NCCC sponsored their 41st annual Brown County Fun Day held at the Indiana Brown County State Park. The sign in point was at Southern Plaza were there was the initial drawing for the poker rally, with the remaining cards to be drawn upon arrival to the state park Corvette Corral. There was a suggested route, which the 14 Corvettes of Corvette Indy promptly decided to abandon. The route chosen by them was led by Greg, out to 465 and then to exit 7 to head south on Mann Rd. From Mann Rd we continued on to Centenary Rd. then Greg continued leading us on to North Bottom Rd., at which point Butch and Tammy suggested that they take the lead as they had grown up in the area. Greg quickly agreed, as he wasn't sure if he had already missed a turn that he had planned to take. With Butch leading we were no longer worried which road we were on as we now knew that we would make the noontime lunch. From Bottom Rd. our route continued west on to Centerton Rd. then south to Blue Bluff Rd. winding along to Mapleturn Lane to go back east up the hills and around the bends all the way to Old St. Rd. 37 turning south on St. Rd. 37 on to St. Rd. 252 turning south again in Morgantown on 135 really enjoying the ups and downs and left and rights to Nashville and finally to 46 to Brown County St Park. Tammy also continued, over the radio, to give us local points of interest, such as where Butch had bailed hay when he was young and where her first boy friend lived. It certainly made the trip more enjoyable plus the route they took us on was a great driving one with beautiful back roads and enjoyable scenery of Brown County. With great skill (luck) the group was able to make all turns and through traffic lights which kept us together as a large caravan. Several times 'metal cars' waved the group on at 4 way stops, which helped greatly. Once at the park we all parked together in the Corvette Corral and took part in the lunch that was provided by the sponsors. There were 10 Corvette clubs represented which, as can be seen below, led to a very full parking lot. Besides the lunch and good company there were also games and a mini car show for those that wanted to join in. Everyone had a good time enjoying the great fall weather and good company. The winning results for Corvette Indy members playing the games are:
Corn Hole Toss - First Place - Brent & Jim
4 Legged Autocross - Second place - Tammy and Butch.
