Michiana Rallies 10/16
Bright and early on Sunday morning three couples headed north to Tire Rack in South Bend the starting point for the four rallies being held by the Michiana Corvette Club. Those three were Bill & Erika Lapham, Al & Terri Forey, and a very tired Butch & Tammy DeWitt. The DeWitt's had driven straight through from Florida the day before so that they could make the rallies and keep their first place winning streak alive. With plenty of time the group stopped in Rochester for a quick breakfast and were back underway just as it started to rain. The starting point was wet, but most of the hard rain had passed with the only issue being damp roads and overcast with mist during the running. As in past years the rally ended at David Godfrey's house where there was plenty of food to feed the hungry participants and workers. Questions in the fun rally were fair with several answering all of them with the route's mileage being the tie breaker. Bill & Erika got third, as he didn't keep full track of their miles when backtracking, Butch & Tammy were 5th, with Al & Terri a couple more places behind. The three poker rallies were the usual 'luck of the draw' with both the DeWitt's and Forey's doing well. It is too bad the day was again overcast as the route was very pretty with lots of trees already turning to beautiful fall color. With one more rally at Grissom during the Great Pumpkin weekend look for the couples to head north to add to their season's points.
