Trip to Charleston's 11/04
On Wednesday, November 4th, the weather was so spectacular a Drive N Dine was pretty much mandatory! Gary & Marian Cole, Wylie (aka Willie the Watch) Etscheid, Al (aka Chuck) & Terri Forey, Jack Houtman, Jim Shaver, Charlie & Eileen Sherman, Keith & Carole Stillinger and Phil & Anita Vickery met at Greg & Donna Bowron's home to share an 80 degree November afternoon. Greg led the group of 9 shiny Vettes around some of Carmel's finest traffic circles and thanks to a road report from Jack was able to abandon a trip up Spring Mill Road where there was resurfacing underway and substitute a detour over to Little Eagle Creek Road. The group got some passing practice when they overtook Ray and his other brother Ray busily collecting discarded treasures but for the most part the roads were clear sailing with hardly any speed signs visible. After some driving fun to enjoy the scenery on some country roads, the group made a pit stop at Stucky's Farm where most managed to leave with some fresh cider or delicious jellies and jams. After the brief respite the group headed back south using Six Points Road, Oak Ridge Road and Greyhound Pass, a route that kept them moving and out of traffic, and ended up at Charleston's in Carmel. There they were joined by Rita (aka Skippy) Etscheid, Mike & Judy Labanz, Mike & Linda Tann and Linda White. The group of 21 over 21's enjoyed some great food, good service and even better conversation which covered many, many mostly not so serious topics. A great way to share a beautiful day and take advantage of a gift of unusually nice weather for this late in the year!
Be sure to check out Charlie's small lunch pictures too.
