Gilmore Museum Trip 07-18 & 19
Jerry and Elaine Croy finally got to take a group up to Michigan to the Gilmore Museum open house for the club's first, and maybe only, overnight trip of the year. Elaine sent in the following recount of the journey.
Our happy group of 11 Corvettes and 1 metal car met up for an overnight trip north to the Gilmore Museum Corvette Envy in Hickory Corners MI. Our first stop on Saturday was a lovely lunch at the Studebaker Mansion. They graciously accommodated us in a separate dining room. Following lunch we separated into 2 groups of cars. Paul/Cam Amos led 7 corvettes on a scenic drive into Michigan and to the hotel in Kalamazoo that we heard was enjoyable. Jerry/Elaine Croy led 4 corvettes to South Haven MI that included a stop at DeGrandchamp Blueberry Farm and ice cream in ‘downtown’ South Haven after parking our Corvettes. Sunday morning was an early start checking out of our hotel at 6:40 am to open The Crew restaurant at 7 am for breakfast. Since reservations were made, they seated us in their banquet room and were ready for us. Following breakfast, it was then a 30 minute drive to the Gilmore Museum including a stop at Shell to top off fuel. This year’s hours for the 3rd Annual Gilmore Corvette Envy were scaled back to 10 am-2 pm but the weather coming in late morning shortened it even more. Fortunately, there are many buildings to duck into during downpours.
