Rising Sun Car Show
On Sunday, July 6, four Corvettes and 6 members along with some friends from the Columbus Corvette Club headed to the Rising Sun car show to be a part of the 479 registered participants. Those getting up early for the trip were Jeff B, Randy & Sherry S, Chris & Paula W and Alan C.
The following report and the pictures were sent in by Jeff.
On a misty Sunday morning, CI members Jeff B, Chris & Paula W, Randy & Sherry S met Alan C at the Cracker Barrel in Shelbyville for a hearty breakfast before heading to the Rising Sun car show. We didn't know that Alan brought along a friend, a bird decided to join him and caught a ride in his grille. The group then headed to the McDonalds in Versailles where they met a couple, Ryan and Angie Money, from the Columbus CC and then made our way south. We were hoping to get the same spot as last year but the Mopar Club had already made camp there. We ended up getting a spot down the street and then detailing began. With no rain in the forecast it came out of nowhere. After a short spell the group was out cleaning again. The judging staff was behind a little due to the fact that they had 150 more cars than last year for a total of 479 cars. The pot's for the 50/50 were rather large and the group didn't come close. At 4:30 we started making our way to the awards ceremony. The motorcycles and trucks were done first and then the cars. Chris White represented CI by winning an award for his class. Angie won in her class with her Champagne colored 1984.
