Meatball 10000 05/16
The Meatball 10000 road rally was set up to honor the medical staffs of IU Health North and Saxony Hospitals with a drive that cost a $20 donation. The collected funds will be used to purchase meals for the staffs from locally owned/operated restaurants. Members that did the run were John Vess, Jimmie & Donna Driscoll, Bill Reynolds and Steve & Victoria Roe. John reported that the event had 800 entrants. Any types of cars could make the run with Jim Shaver reporting that a number of them went by his house during the third leg of the drive. Also Paul Amos had stationed himself in Cicero by the ice cream shop for a few pictures of Corvettes and others cars driving by.
From their website Meatball 10000 explaining the event:
Welcome to the Meatball. This idea was “cooked-up” a couple of weeks-ago while chatting with my oldest son about the entire COVID-19 situation… and what we are all doing at home.
In speaking with some of my car buddies, the collective response was that no one was doing anything. Period. It felt like there is an opportunity to take advantage of the free-time and beautiful Spring weather… and organize a drive on which we can enjoy one another’s company from the “safety” of our own cars.
Think of it as a rolling Cars & Coffee… where you bring you own coffee… and you don’t burn-out when leaving.
What is the Meatball? This version of the Meatball is an un-timed, non-competitive road-rally through the nicest, windiest back-roads in Hamilton and Madison County. We have managed to find the most interesting 60 mile drive from IU Health North in Carmel to IU Health Saxony in Fishers.
Next, who will Benefit? It seems to me that our local medical teams are going above-and-beyond… while local restaurants are getting decimated… during the quarantine.
Let’s have some fun together, while also keeping our distance. : )
