1992 C-4 Muffler Project
Presently running Dynomax Super Turbos that were installed prior to my purchase of the C4 in 1999. While checking under the car I noticed that the spot welds on the muffler bracket had broken lose and exhaust was leaking. I asked a good friend of mine Paul Suitt, who I asked to join Corvette Indy a couple of years ago, to take a look at my mufflers one night as he is an expert (I think) with all kinds of metals and processes. We came up with a couple of plans to resolve my concerns and we decided to start with plan “A” which was to drill two ¼ inch holes in each bracket and insert two ¼ inch aluminum pop rivets to secure the bracket to the muffler.
Plan “A” worked but it was a little difficult in terms of space to work in as the pop rivet gun had to go over the LT-1 exhaust tips. Paul had all the right tools for the job including a long drill extension.
Bottom line is that I saved a few sheckles.
