2013 Grand AM Race at IMS
On July 26 Indianapolis Motor Speedway hosted the Grand Am races as part of the NASCAR Brickyard Weekend of racing. The club was fortunate enough to get complementary tickets for many of the members to Friday's event from Mike Quinn of Chevrolet with 38 tickets through Penske and 8 more from Robert & Judiie. All of them were used and greatly appreciated by those able to take a Friday off. We also had a few members work at the event with the track photos at the bottom from Jim S who worked a corner. Robert took the next to the last 3 pictures (check out the one of Butch) while Jim A. took the rest of the pictures and had the following comments about the event: Here are a few photos from yesterday's Grand-Am event at IMS. I understand from Saturday morning's Indianapolis Star that the event may be a stand-alone race next year, rather than tagged onto the NASCAR weekend. That would be very good for road racing enthusiasts. Starting in 2014, the Grand-Am and American LeMans Series (ALMS) are merging into the United Sports Car Racing series. That means the official Corvette Racing Team that is currently competing in the ALMS with C6s will compete at IMS next year with the new C7s.
That is really good news for Corvette fans. That also means that the club will have another Corvette function to attend & participate in!!
