Putnam Park Weekend - May 30 & 31
Corvette Indy members headed out to Putnam Park to compete and work at the Indiana Region Autocross events over the weekend. With a sunny start but soon damp conditions on Saturday Butch D started out by working turn 8 during the Low speed events, then got ready to run in High Speed. Full day workers were Bill L and Tammy D who headed out to corner 5 for the wet day of running. In the pit area Bob Y gave rides on his 4 wheeler around the pit area. The low speed ran in fairly dry conditions, but then it poured which prompted an hour lunch break. The afternoon's high speed was run in the wet with many showers and even a thunderstorm that pulled the corner workers off of the track. The day ran long with some events not able to get their full runs in. Saturday evening concluded with a dinner at the host motel, which everyone enjoyed. Sunday continued the wet conditions after over night rains and continued showers in the morning. Returning to again work was Bill L along with Butch again work and run High speed. Also Cathy C was there to run and work, with Frank C working the whole day. He started with Bill on turn 5 during the morning Low speed, and moved to turn 4 with Cathy during the afternoon High speed events. Normally the 4 high speed events are run in the morning but due to the rain the events were swapped around so that there was a chance of some dry runs later in the day. This did help group of drivers, but the track never did completely dry up. It was a fun weekend for all of those who attended, with many promising to go to the following weeks Main Event.
