​Drive to Mayberry 11/16

With the driving season getting near an end Ray & Sherry Chester planned what may be the last Retirees & Hookey Players Drive N Dine of 2017 to the Mayberry Cafe in Danville. With the forecast for sun and high 40's this sounded like a good plan, unfortunately the weather gods did not fully cooperate as the day was cloudy and only made it in to the low 30's, but at least it was dry. Even with those conditions 13 members and 7 Corvettes braved the 20 degree wind chill for probably the last D&D of 2017. Those answering the day's call were hosts Ray & Sherry, Tom & Nancy Piercy, John & Marg Herder, Jimmie & Donna Driscoll, Charlie and Eileen Sherman, and Linda White. The group started out from McAlister's at noon and traveled 86th street to Pittsboro, adding Mark & Jan Rothrock to the journey. Everyone was anxious to see Jan's newly restored 1973. They then traveled on to Mayberry where we learned the owner was Eileen Sherman's sister. Needless to say we were treated like family. Everyone had a great time and safely made the trip even though most were driving on their cold summer tires.
