Al's Sway Bar Link Upgrade
Al is now moving on to doing unseen items on his Z51 C5 as he decided to upgrade his worn sway bar links. Generally his upgrades have been very visual to enhance his quest of car show trophies. Changing the end links was needed because the bushings in the links dry out over time and cause a bit of suspension slop. Also the links in early C5's were made from a nylon plastic and were also subject to distortion and breaking. In Al's case none of the links were broken but the bushings were very torn up. With the use of a Greg Garage lift he was able to accomplish the change out in a little over an hour or so using only hand tools. Of course he had the support of Greg, Wylie, and photographer Bill, along with Jerry stopping by. All had suggestions, some useful but most not. Merlin also looked on, interjecting his helpful enthusiasm when out of the pen in the garage. On competition of the reassembly each bolt on the link's assembly got an extra 'oomph' tug on the wrench so they won't loosen up.
