NCM Anniversary Pre-Run 08/12
Wylie is leading a small group of Corvette Indy members to the first day of the 25 NCM Anniversary. The group then plans on visiting a few of Kentucky's many distilleries that dot the mid section of the state the next few days. Wylie's trip will be a part of the big caravan of Corvettes from Michigan and Indiana that will start at IMS and wind it's way to the National Corvette Museum. His plan is to leave with the caravan and then break off of I-65 and take the beautiful two lane roads through southern Indiana and Kentucky for a nicer drive than the interstate to Bowling Green.
To accomplish the extended trip in a few weeks Wylie along with Bob, Tom, and Bill headed out to check the roads and routes. Leaving early on Monday morning they headed South and were soon exiting at Seymour to head over to IN-135 and toward Corydon then across the Ohio and down through the middle of Kentucky to the NCM. Once there they looked for but did not spot and C8's, but there were a number of C7's being delivered. After leaving the museum and Bowling Green they headed towards the first distillery destination of Makers Mark. This is a beautiful location in the middle of Kentucky where the group spent a short time checking the facility out before heading to their next destination of Buffalo Trace in Frankfort. With a fairly quick drive they arrive just a few minutes prior to closing and were able to confirm it as a destination for the trip. They then headed to downtown Frankfort for a nice dinner before heading back to Carmel of what turned out to be a fun 15.5 hour day trip of 630 miles for Wylie and his riders.
