Greg's Auction Review
On Friday, May 17th, Rich B and Randy S met at Greg B's house for their annual "Boys Night Out" to Mecum. They drove to the Fairgrounds and met up with Chris W. Just as they walked in "The Snake" a 1 of 1 Mustang sold for $1.3 million.
What a waste of money! Don't they realize how many Corvettes they coulda bought for that?
Answer: Exactly 2 if you were after the '67 Vette that sold for $610,000...
After wandering around looking at the cars for a while the guys began to run outta drool and went over to the food tent to load up on grease and replenish their rapidly depleting water supply. There Greg said hi to Ken Lingenfelter. Donna had dressed Greg as usual and she had outfitted him in a red Lingenfelter hat so that was timely. Greg mentioned that Corvette Indy had 22 Vettes caravanning to Lingenfelter's shop on June 15th and Ken again invited the club to visit his Collection in Michigan. They also discussed a possible Lingenfelter and Corvette Indy car show combined at Penske later this summer.
The guys wandered the night away checking out all the cars and they hoped someone was following them around to wipe the paint dry after they left. Greg's daughter Sheri and boyfriend Ron were also there visiting with Nathan Sheets of Lingenfelter. They went to dinner with Kenny Yager of from Mid America who has a personal Corvette collection of 1953 through 1997 which has duplicates but only lacks a '63. Nice!
The group finally got weary and sat down in the bidding area to watch the last few auctions of the night so the old guys managed to stay up late and close the place down!
Mecum generates a lot of interest in club people! Where else can you so many toys in one place? At least the following folks attended: Jim A, Jeff B, Rich B, Greg B, Bob H, Jerry H, Bill L, Jim N, Rich P, Robert S, Randy S and Chris W.
Many others I'm sure spent much time glued to the television watching the auctions!
