6th Annual Winter Party 01/20
The Lapham's again opened their house for a club Winter party with a bit smaller group of 54 members attending this year. Fortunately the weather had finally broken from the record cold so sidewalks were clean of ice and the temps in the 40's for easier travel to NW Carmel. As in past year's there was a lot of food and great gathering on both levels of their house for a fun evening. This year the the TV's were tuned to the Barrett-Jackson auction for the enjoyment of the Corvette loving club. Jim Alvis was there taking some of the pictures with the following thoughts:
"Thanks for hosting another Corvette Indy winter party. It was certainly a nice break from the winter cold and dreariness. The food was abundant and delicious, and the company was excellent. One of the highlights was watching the VIN number 0001 2019 ZR1 cross the block at the annual Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ. The winner was Rick Hendrick at $925,000 with 100% of the proceeds going to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation which supports wounded veterans through the Building for America’s Bravest program."
Along with the ZR1 sale we saw former President George W. Bush take the stage to help auction a 2018 Corvette Carbon 65 Edition for a charity that benefits military veterans. He along with Jay Leno were able to get 1.4 million for that worthy cause. The final big sale of the evening was for a Ford GT that brought 2.5 million for charity too.
Besides Jim & Bill taking pictures Sherry Chester was busy too and sent some in. It was a great party with everyone heading home before the fog set in. Those members who were able to attend, some who had not been seen for awhile, were; Jim & Judi Alvis, Greg & Donna Bowron, Ray & Sherry Chester, Butch & Tammy DeWitt, Jimmie & Donna Driscoll, Al & Terri Forey, Judy & John Gersting, Paul & Londa Habecker, John & Marg Herder, Bob & Cindy Hensley, Mark Hilligoss, Doug & Arminta Inbody, Jim & Pam Kellam, Mary McConnell & Steve Head (arriving late from the airport), Bud & Eileen Mitcheltree, Dick & Bonnie Pacetti, Tom & Nancy Piercy, John Rash & Sherry Sawyer, Bill & Cheryl Reynolds, Steve Shepard, Randy & Sherry Sprague, John & Ruth Vess, Phil & Anita Vickery, Linda White, Bob & Sherry Wilbert, and Bob & Barb Young. Unfortunately Jim & Shelly Noelle didn't make the trip North from Mooresville NC as they were both under the weather with colds and 6" of snow. Hopefully they can make the trip next year.
