Al's March 2015 Project
Installation of Wind
Restrictor
This is of interest to convertible owners only.
This project was performed in my garage without benefit of lift or special tools. I purchased the Wind Restrictor from King Penn Industries (the manufacturer) in March 2015. The product is a GM official licensed product and is well built. They manufacturer this product in USA. The product is also available from West Coast Corvettes and others, but cost more than from manufacturer. These are made for C5, C6, C7 and other makes and models of cars. They have some standard etchings or they will make special wording as a special order. Their website is good and shows some examples. The product is available as illuminated in a choice of colors or non-illuminated. I purchased the product with the standard C5 logo with "Corvette" under that, illuminated in yellow (amber) to match the car, the remote dimmer/on-off switch. I hard wired so I didn't need the cigarette lighter plug. If anyone in the club wants to buy and install one of these, I would be happy to suggest the obligatory pitfalls or help order.
Requires the better part of the day if you take your time.

Product pieces excluding mounting brackets (shown in other photo)-Wind Restrictor, LED illumination panel/wire, wireless receiver, off-on-dim FOB, and "Brillanize" cleaner/mini cloth.
The 4 accompanying photos illustrate the mounting brackets in place. The carpet that wraps over the curb behind the seats is pulled away temporarily to facilitate firm mounting of the mounting brackets. I also removed the waterfall and it's mounting bracket to allow carpet to go back over the new mounting brackets (not mentioned in the included instructions). Not shown is my dropping the bottom of the dashboard and climbing upside-down with my head up inside the dash to complete the hard wiring. Contact me with questions, Al |
