Jack's Birthday Drive-bye 05/06
Through the Corvette Indy contact form the club got the following request to do a Birthday Drive-bye:
Good afternoon. I know this is short notice, however I have a little boy turning 7 on Wednesday, May 6. I was wondering if it would be at all possible to reach out to your club members to see if anyone would be interested or available in making a little boy's birthday memorable and doing a drive by parade for him in Corvettes. He LOVES Corvettes! He wants to buy one when he can drive. If it works I thought if we could just select a time and we will be outside. We live on the west side of Carmel near 116th and Hoover Road (near Cox Hall Gardens).
From that message our illustrious social director Jimmie took the request and in just a few days worked out the when and where of club members meeting and doing the drive-bye parade. Coxhall Gardens became the starting point with 20 Corvettes answering the call out, on what turned out to be a beautiful day. He had also contacted the Carmel police department with no answer back. But just before our departure time two officers showed up and led our little parade from the park onto Hoover road and into Jack's subdivision with sirens and lights running. As the group of Corvettes drove by the house there were a number of neighbors and even a set of grandparents who had come down from Wisconsin to watch their Grandson's special day parade. Our merchandise director Jeff even had a couple of items which included a Corvette Indy Main Event shirt, newly designed poker chip, and a Corvette Indy glass to give him. The Amos's also gave him a matchbox Corvette, always a favorite with a 7 year old. It was a fun filled hour and all of the members were glad to get their Corvettes out. Unfortunately due to the virus lock down there was no dinning afterwards as there usually would have been. That time will be coming soon we all hope.
Greg & Donna took a video which will be added to below the gallery when available.
