Jim K's 3rd Annual Birthday Dinner 04/08
Again on the meeting night (April 3) before his birthday (April 12) Jim Kellam got with Bill to plan what now is becoming an annual event. This was also to become the first true Corvette Drive N Dine of the year. With email announcements going out on Tuesday the early response was nearly 20 members. But with the weather going to be in the 60's and great on Saturday the total soon swelled to 32 members, with all but one couple in a Corvette, making the trek to Half Moon Brewery and Restaurant. This was unlike last year when there was snow the night before and it became a metal car drive. Three couples left from Bill & Erika's for a scenic drive to the McClure on 31 where most everyone else gathered for the drive up US 31. Once underway Brent & Betty blended in at the new IN 28 interchange for the rest of the drive in to Kokomo. There the group met up with John & Diana who are now Kokomo residents. The party was seated in the back room, with plenty of space for everyone. As always the meals were great and most everyone had to get a box to take leftovers home. Birthday boy Jim had his usual good time and other early April birthday members who were also there enjoyed the meal and time together. Once the meal was over Diana and John invited members to go see their new house. Five couples wound their way over to see their new location and found it to be a great retirement home. John & Diana had planned it well with a three car garage that has enough room to put a lift in even including flush overhead lights for a possible Corvette 'addition' to their family. They also have a great view behind their house and a special temperature controlled room for John's plant collection. They will have a great time being very close to many of their family in their original home town.
