Penske Cookout II 04/23
With short notice and plans made at the Monday night meeting the Corvette Indy members stepped up to having a second cookout at Penske. Jim Alvis's report is first with Jim Shaver's following and the pictures are from both.
The second spring cookout for the Penske Chevrolet employees was certainly successful. Quite a few Corvette Indy members showed up to work and/or to enjoy the food and to socialize. Chief cooks Bill Reynolds and Jim Shaver kept the burgers and brats ready for the hungry group. The cookout was moved to the west side of the showroom for easier access for the employees. New members Harry and Tillie Barthalow showed up with their beautiful new Laguna Blue Tintcoat C7 coupe. Several members were seen viewing the seven new C7s in front of the showroom, all of the Corvettes are waiting for new owners and homes.
A good group of Corvette Indy members turned out for another Penske Chevrolet guest and staff cookout. We got moved to the west side of the building and some of us were a bit confused about where to park. Jerry Croy got there early and thought he had the perfect parking place . . . until the sprinklers came on. The sprinklers could use some aiming. Jerry's car took a direct hit. The grill was located near one of the sprinklers and every once in a while the wind would shift and the cooks would get hit with mist. Ross solved the problem by covering the sprinkler head with an aluminum pan weighted down by a case of Coke. We were happy to have Keith Riley's wife join us after her recent stroke and subsequent hospitalization.
