2014 Brown County Shrine Club Corvette Show
On July 19 the Corvette Indy gang headed to Brown County and the Shriner s All Corvette Show. Starting out at Paradise Cafe were 10 Corvettes and 18 members. Those getting up early were Bob & Sherry W, Paul & Londa H, Larry & Joy G, Bill & Erika L, Jim & Shelly N, Wylie & Rita E, Jeff B, Charlie B, and our caravan leader Greg & Donna B. Heading out promptly at 8AM we headed towards the south side and picked up Alan & Judy C on Mann Road the beginning of our route south. While on our way we met a White C6, which promptly turned around and attached itself to the caravan. It later turned out that they did want to go to the show, but were looking for another group of Corvettes!. After nearly an hour of driving county and state roads the group made it to Brown County Inn, the site of the show. Harry Bond had saved us just enough spots for the whole group, as within a few minutes Randy & Sherry S and Chris & Paula W pulled in. Once parked the cleaning began in earnest. Wylie looked at the judging sheets points options and noticed that he could get 3 extra points for having a fire extinguisher, tool kit, and first aid kit. Rita had gone to the CVS nearby and returned with a 'free' mini first aid kit. With one item down, Wylie struck out for assistance from Harry on a way to get to a local hardware store to make purchases of the other two. Harry's solution was to get Wylie a ride with the policeman on duty and he thereby obtained the other two needed items. As the morning progressed a number of the ladies headed in to Nashville to shop while others finished detailing. After all of the detailing an judging was done a few of the men also headed in to town to have lunch, while the rest of those left headed to the Inn for a nice inside meal. Getting to the show later were Rich & Suzanne B, as she had to work Saturday morning. A little after two Harry started to announce the winners with members pictured Larry, Greg & Donna, Jim & Shelley, Wylie, Paul, Alan, Chris, Jeff, and Randy & Sherry getting a Best of Show plaque, Once the show was done the group somewhat split up with 4 cars headed off to have a belated birthday dinner for Rich & Chris, another couple headed directly home while 7 more took a leisurely drive north around some of the lakes and then back in to the metro area via back roads. The weather got hotter as the day went along and the rain held off this year to make the whole day a successful one.
