DnD Cruise to Beef House 10/04
Tom and Nancy Piercy again planned and took another enthusiastic group to the Beef House in Covington Indiana. This is the third time they have made the trip over the past few years, and because they gave enough notice they had several true Hookey Players included. The day had started wet but was drying out by the noon time start from the Traders Point with most everyone in Corvettes. Those able to go along in their Corvettes with the hosts were Harry & Tillie Barthalow, Wylie & Rita Etscheid, Jim & Pam Kellam (top down), Bud & Eileen Mitcheltree, Bill & Erika Lapham, Larry & Dona Stein, Phil & Anita Vickery, Bob & Sherry Wilbert, Bob & Cindy Hensley (Hookey Player #1), Ray & Sherri Chester (Hookey Player !#2), and the recouping John Vess riding with Keith Riley in his Caddy the lone metal car relegated to rear. The route was circuitous up through the West side of Zionsville, back over the 421, the West on 47 to Darlington and the cut over to 231 and South to the McDonald's as it was our a stop to pick up a couple of other members Bob & Carolyn Shelton with their Corvette and Mark & Jan Rothrock with their truck. After a quick break the group headed back North on 231 and then cutting across country for the 'long way' to the Beef House again with the metal vehicles bringing up the rear. The drive was uneventful with many people as we passed by enjoying the parade of Vettes. Once there the group was seated in the larger back room with more room than in the past. Most made use of the 'lunch' (meaning huge) buffet while a few others ordered off of the menu. No one went home hungry, and most with take home for later too, especially the great yeast roles that the Beef House is know for. Hopefully Tom & Nancy will continue making this a nearly yearly event for the Club members to enjoy.
